North South Morocco Tours 2022/2023

This 12-day itinerary features a perfect mix of culture, history, adventure, and relaxation. Explore imperial cities, mountain villages, desert landscapes, and coastal ramparts. Begin in northern Morocco in Tangier and Chefchaouen before working your way south to Fes, through the Desert, over the Atlas Mountains to Marrakech and Essaouira.

Day 1: Tangier

Transfer from the airport or ferry terminal to your hotel. On the first day of our North South Morocco Tours, we give you time to explore this bustling port city that was once the playground of international socialites, including artists, musicians, politicians and writers (Paul Bowles). The city is a lively, cosmopolitan, historic Mediterranean place where you get to explore a number of museums and sites. Stay overnight in the hotel.

Day 2: Chefchaouen

Today we head to Chefchaouen, a beautiful blue and white-washed Andalusian town nestled in the Rif Mountains. The town is very relaxed, with small winding alleyways and market squares, where the women of the surrounding Rif come to sell their handmade products. Dinner is at the hotel.

Day 3: Chefchaouen- Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

On your way to Meknes, you will first make an excursion to nearby Volubilis, the remains of a Roman city, and Moulay Idriss, the burial place of the founder of Morocco’s first imperial dynasty. For Moroccans it is a place of pilgrimage. You continue to Meknes, the smallest and friendliest of the five imperial cities of Morocco. The old part of Meknes is beautiful and has a feel of the oriental and the Mediterranean at the same time. The immense city walls and gates lead the visitors’ imagination into times long gone. The labyrinth of alleyways and market stands is a joy to any visitor and the friendly inhabitants will gladly show you the products they are selling, like spices, olives, pottery, Then Toward to Fes.

Day 4: Fes

your North South Morocco Tour will see you travel to the country’s most fascinating city and the world’s last surviving medieval city. You will tour the medina with its souks (markets), stopping at the gateway of the Royal Palace, the 9th-century Karaouiyine Mosque and University. You will also visit the tomb of the city founder, Moulay Idris II. Lunch is at one of the traditional restaurants in the old medina. After lunch you will continue to explore the Najarine Fountain, the gateway of the Bab Boujloud, the old harem gardens and the Batha Museum. On the way back to the hotel, stop to enjoy a panoramic view of the city or stop at a famous tannery to learn where skins are cured and dyed in enormous vats.

Day 5: Fes – Medilt – Cedar forest – Merzouga – Camel Ride and Night in Desert

After the breakfast Leaving Fez and going to Merzouga , passing through Ifrane to arrive to the cedar forests of Azrou where the wild monkeys are located. It will be good opportunity to take photos of wilderness in Morocco. Lunch in a small Berber village of Zaida. We continue the way through the Atlas Mountains enjoying the landscapes of Medilt to arrive to the small town of Rich,Erfoud in which we’ll feel the beginning of the Saharan oasis of Tafilalet.And then continue to Merzouga, after relaxing few min.. you’ll ride the camels to spend the night in desert. night in berber nomad tents.

Day 6: Merzouga – Todra Gorges – Dades Valley – Dades Gorges

After seeing the sunrise in desert we go back on camels to Merzouga , after the breakfast and take shower in the Hotel then we start our journey to Dades Gorges ,on the way; we will visit the Berber villages & berber markets then to todra gorges , we will drive to dades gorges trough dades valley..and we will arrive to in evening .

Day 7:Dades gorges – Ouarzazate – Aitbenhaddou – Marrakech

Leaving dades in the Morning ,we will visit Ouarzazate UNESCO protected site of Ait Ben Haddou., a most impressive Kasbah and well-preserved fortress in Morocco. Many movies were filmed here such as the Gladiator. Leave Ait Ben Haddou and start heading towards the majestic Atlas Mountains. Cross the High Atlas Mountains via the highest road pass in Morocco Tizni Tichka 2260m high offering impressive views of valleys, mountains and many Berber villages nearby. arrive to Marrakech in evening.

Day 8: Marrakech

Today you and your fellow North South Morocco Tour participants travel to Marrakech, the exotic ochre coloured city that is the imperial city of the south. Your hotel is located near the Djemaa el Fna Square, the vibrant heart of the city. The activities on the square are continually changing – you will see snake charmers, musicians, acrobats and storytellers. In the evening open food-stalls are set up with delicious kebabs and salads. Your senses will be reeling in the narrow streets of the medieval medina. Fully loaded donkeys walk back and forth through the narrow streets, which smell of herbs, leather and meat stalls. Stay overnight in Riad/Hotel.

Day 9: Marrakech – Ourika valley

Start Day 9 of your North South Morocco Tour with an excursion to Ourika Valley, where you will visit traditional Berber souks and Jewish shrines. After lunch, you will be introduced to some typical workshops to enjoy the products of the sophisticated hand of local artisans. Return to Marrakech for dinner at the Riad.

Day 10: Marrakech – Essaouira

After breakfast, you will head to Essaouria through the forest of the unique Argan oil trees. Arriving in this little romantic city that was originally settled by the Portuguese, you will visit the Mellah, which is the original Jewish quarter of the town. Enjoy the seafood and the ambiance of this special city. Overnight in your Riad in the medina.

Day 11: Essaouira – Casablanca

After a leisurely breakfast, depart this morning to Casablanca through a scenic coastal drive. Your sightseeing day includes the United Nations Square, Royal Palace, and the Mosque of Hassan ll which is the second largest religious building in the Moslem world after the mosque in Mecca.

Day 12: Casablanca

Transfer to the airport where you will bid farewell to Morocco for your return home and en of North South Morocco Tours.
